Report progress

Nothing too interesting in this post, I just thought that I would put up some of my research topic progression looking at autonomous drive.  I am currently recoding a massive data set so that I can start to analyse my data and write my report up (well at least start to). I am almost at the half way point. Been here for three weeks learning the systems and how to code, recode, report write and analyse, now (hopefully once this data set is all sorted and ready to go) I can start writing up my report. These are just some questions that have the potential to be in my report. Still need to work on refining, hopefully once I start playing around with the data I will get a little more insight into some media trends that will drive more questions.

Report Plan Outline

Automotive Technology – the future of driving
How else can autonomous drive be referred to? Assisted drive, piloted driving, connected cars, self-driving cars.
Automotive technology segments – how can we understand ‘technology’ in the automotive industry?

Coverage of autonomous driving – how has media presence of autonomous driving changed over time?
Coverage of autonomous driving – how has tonality of autonomous driving changed over time?

Autonomous drive effect on corporate image – how does autonomous drive coverage effect corporate brands, who are the most visible CEOs in regards to autonomous drive coverage?

Powertrain coverage over time and relation to autonomous drive? – Maybe?

How can we define the connected car? Three main trends – data connectivity, the ability to take mobility beyond the car as a seamless experience and fully autonomous driving.

Connected cars and autonomous driving – what is considered to be a connected car/how does this integrate with autonomous driving technology.

How important is connectivity when evaluating a car?

In-car electronics within the product strategy?

What are the top connectivity trends?

Look at the shift from semi-autonomous (brake assist, cruise control etc) to fully autonomous driving

Media Relevance of Autonomous driving

What is the media perception regarding autonomous driving? What are the main concerns that are addressed? Product aspects autonomous drive + corporate aspect… + tonality

Brands share of coverage of autonomous drive – is there a difference in coverage of premium v volume brands? ‘Market leaders in autonomous drive’

Acceptance of autonomous driving – what factors will influence positive perception of autonomous driving?

Biggest challenges of autonomous driving?

Social Media coverage of Autonomous driving
– are we able to look at hashtag trends?

Autonomous drive social media overview – look at key messages across platforms, share of voice etc.

Key stakeholder messages through social media regarding autonomous drive – what is the tonality of the conversation? How has the conversation changed over time?

#drivingnotdriving – hashtag set up for the audi a7 autonomous drive, #autonomousdrive, #googleselfdrivingcar2014, #selfdrive, #driverlesscar, #googlecar

From the coverage, what predictions can we make about the future of autonomous driving? What are the highlighted key concerns that need to be addressed?
